What is the maximum speed of the Oxygen CargoScooter?

The maximum speed of the Oxygen CargoScooter is 45 km/h (28mph), for the moped version and up to 65 km/h (40mph) for the XP motorcycle version, both with an acceleration of 0-40 km/h in only 6 seconds. The scooter also has a speed control device on the reverse gear and an energy retrieval system on the braking mechanism which augments the battery charge approx. 8%-12%.

 

What is the maximum load transportable with Oxygen CargoScooter?

The Oxygen CargoScooter is designed for a load capacity of 90 kg (200lbs), split between the rear box (maximum capacity: 70 kg) and the front carrier (maximum capacity: 20kg). where permitted, on the CargoScooter can be added a trailer on the back.

Can the load weight compromise the speed performance of the vehicle?

As with all traditional fuel powered two wheel vehicles, the Oxygen CargoScooter’s range and speed performances can vary according to the weight of the load, the style of driving and the type of road.

Our Oxygen CargoScooter models ( basic, LR and XR) are prepared to have the autonomy required to cover a whole day’s journeys in various conditions.

Which are the principal components of the Oxygen CargoScooter?

 The Oxygen CargoScooter is built around three main components:

1.      Electric Motor: brushless type, fitted within the rear wheel - “In-wheel Direct Drive”.
2.      Control Unit: an on-board computer that controls the battery management
3.      Battery: batteries with Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) Technology.

 What is the In-wheel Direct Drive Motor?

The electric In-wheel Direct Drive motor is an innovative motor that doesn’t use mechanical transmission as in traditional petrol fuelled scooters. This significantly reduces energy loss. The electric In-wheel Direct Drive motor doesn’t use combustible fuel, so it reduces sound emissions and vibration during use.

What is the Control Unit?

  The Oxygen CargoScooter control unit is unique. It works as an interface between motor and battery, optimizing the consumption of energy through the control of a regenerative braking system,  and improving versatility with a reverse gear. Its main characteristics are:

•   Digital Controller: sophisticated electronics that gives full diagnostic capability. Its features can be customized according to the client’s needs, using remote control or connection to a portable PC.
•   Energy Retrieving Braking System: the energy that is normally lost during breaking is returned to the battery, augmenting its capability by 8-12%.
•   Reverse Gear: the multifunction dashboard manages the limited speed reverse gear allowing the rider to maneuve the vehicle backwards with ease, up steep slopes, where there is no room to turn the scooter around.

 

How does the Oxygen CargoScooter recharge?

 All that is required to recharge a battery pack is to connect the scooter to a 110/120 volt electric socket. The full charge time depends from the scooter model and approximately:

CargoScooter: 3 hours
CargoScooter XR: 5 hours
CargoScooter LR: 6,5 hours

 

How long does the battery pack last?

The batteries are guaranteed for 24 months 

 

Are battery packs available for substitution?

The service centers specialized in Oxygen products have battery packs available and are the only authorized centres for battery replacement (this allows the warranty to remain intact).

 

How much does recharging the battery pack cost?

The Oxygen CargoScooter travels 20km with about one Kilowatt hour. The price of the KWh varies according to the Country but is on average around 10-20 euro cents. So travelling 40 km a day with the CargoScooter will cost  around 30-60 cents.

Do climate conditions vary the performance of CargoScooter?

The performance of Oxygen CargoScooter may vary a little according to ambient temperature. It has been calculated that there is a variation of about 15% between 0°C and 40°C. If the ambienttemperature is very high, thermal protection can intervene, which slightly reduces the performance of the scooter. The effects of atmospheric pressure and humidity are negligible.

Is a Drivig licence necessary to drive the Oxygen CargoScooter?

Driving licence required is related to the legal requirements in place in each country where our product is bought.
In the UK, Oxygen CargoScooter is classified as Moped, so may be ridden from age 16, starting with a provisional licence, gained after taking Compulsory Basic Training.

Is it necessary to pay car tax to circulate with the Oxygen CargoScooter?

Generally it is recommended to consult the single regional legislation on the matter
In Italy, as enounced by article 20, first comma, of the Single text of the law on motorvehicle taxation, approved by decree of the President of the Republic on the 5th February 1953, number39 and subsequent changes and integrations ( motorcycles on 2,3 and 4 wheels), introduced by article 145, comma7 of law 23/12/2000, number 388 “ Financial law 2001”:  an exemption of five years of the possession tax (bollo) starting on the date of immatriculation and for all the types of vehicle of electric traction.

 

How often must the vehicle go through be serviced?

Oxygen CargoScooters do not need servicing. They do however require scheduled maintenance checks:

  • After 1.000 km or the first month;
  • After 5.000 km or 8 months;
  • 10.000 km or 20 months;
  • 15.000 km or 32 months;
  • 20.000 km or 44 months.

These checks need to be carried out by an approved Oxygen technician

 

What kind of assistance does Oxygen provide the vehicle?

The guaranteed assistance is that provided by Oxygen specialized centres or, if there are none in the area, that provided by the builder.

 

Is road assistance included in the purchase contract?

The new owner should arrange roadside assistance with a recognised service organization

 

Is Oxygen CargoScooter allowed to travel on motorways?

it is advised to consult the national legislation in the Country of interest.

What are the governmental approaches on the matter of the use of electric vehicles? Are there state benefits for the purchasing electric scooters?

For some years now many  governments of the world have understood the seriousness of the environmental situation. They have therefore taken tangible measures to reduce Co2 emissions and guarantee a better future for the coming generations.
To encourage the public to cooperate in protecting the environment, many governments allocate money as an incentive for the purchasing of low impact vehicles, as an alternative to traditional fuel powered vehicles.
In the USA, for example, the purchase of an electric vehicle is subsidised by a standard sum of money, guaranteed by federal tax, to cover 10% of the cost of the vehicle, up to $4000, as per Section 179 of the Energy Policy Act of 1992. This measure was then extended in 2007 according to the Working Family Tax Relief Act of 2004. This further measure provided a fiscal detraction up to $100,000, for activities pertaining to the charging on site of electric vehicles for industrial use.
In Europe it is possible to receive incentives for the purchasing of low impact vehicles. The publication of the 2006/32/EC Directive, promoted by the Parliament and by the European Council on 5th April 2006, relating to the efficiency of use of energy and electric energy services, was a first step in this direction.
Among the points dealt with in the Community Directive, were the incentives to promote increased use of electric vehicles as alternatives to traditional ones. The Avere association (Associazione Europea per i Veicoli Elettrici a batteria, Ibridi e a Celle Combustibili) which deals with electric vehicles, published on their internet site (http://www.avere.org/) a table that shows the situation of the incentives promoted by various European countries. The table offers useful information regarding: state incentives, fiscal reduction, insurance promotions, recharging possibilities and existing structures (including free recharge columns on roads and in parking areas).
In Italy, every year the government renews the funds allocated to support the purchase of eco-friendly and electric vehicles, in the form of incentives for the public. Generally the assignation and management of the funds are carried out by the local administrations (councils, provinces, regions).
